Forgiveness
Do you see God’s love for you? Do you see your need for forgiveness? If you do, make the decision now to turn away from your sin and the direction you were headed. Do a 180 degree turn toward God and ask for forgiveness, that is called repenting. Do what God has said and get going in the right direction. In order to do that, you must surrender your life.
Now I know that’s a hard thing to do, but I want you understand that you are in a battle you cannot possibly win and by surrendering your life to God you are not declaring defeat by an enemy. You are simply joining the winning army. You do have to give up control to a new Commander in Chief, as an act of willing submission to His authority; but He’s been commanding His army since the beginning of time and He knows what He’s doing.
Put your faith and trust in Jesus Christ. Pray and ask God to forgive you. When you do those 2 things, He will forgive you. It really is that simple. That’s your ‘get out of hell free card’. But what does “put your faith and trust in Jesus Christ” mean? It means to personally trust in Jesus the way you would personally trust in your parachute if you had no choice but to jump from an airplane at 30,000 feet. You wouldn’t just “believe” in your parachute, you’d put it on! In the same way the Bible says that we should “put on” Jesus so we can be saved from an eternity in Hell. There are 100’s of millions of people world wide who “believe” that Jesus exists but there is a HUGE difference between “believing” and “putting on”. The difference will be overwhelmingly obvious when it’s time to jump from your airplane of life.
Today, right now, this very minute, turn from your sin, ask God to forgive you and surrender your life to Jesus Christ. Don’t wait; don’t put it off until tomorrow because tomorrow never comes. You could die today and then it will be too late. I know you probably have a lot of questions and that’s OK but put on the parachute first then ask your questions. You never know when you’ll have to jump, but it’s better to jump with a parachute then with out one.
Pray something like this: Dear God, today I turn from my sin and place my faith in Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. Please forgive me of my sins and grant me Your gift, my pardon and eternal life. Amen. There is nothing magic about these words because God is concerned with the attitude of your heart, but you must say at least the gist of it. The Bible says you must have faith and you must say it out loud, even if it’s just a whisper. Why? If God is concerned with the attitude of my heart why do I have to say it out loud? Simple, the Devil (who is real, helps keep people in sin and on their way to Hell) cannot know your heart. How is he going to know you’re done with sin unless you tell him?
God will transform you from the inside out. You will begin to think and act differently as you learn to trust and obey God. Nobody is perfect except Christ. You will make mistakes and that’s OK if you can do these 2 things. 1: Learn from it. 2: Ask God for forgiveness. He will give you new strength to live right and love Him above all else. Read your Bible daily and obey His Word. You can trust God. He will always be faithful.
To help you get started, we have a free booklet for you called “So what! I’m a Christian, now what?” Click HERE to download it for free. If you do not have a Bible we would like to send you one absolutely free, no shipping, no handling, no taxes, or any other fees. If you have decided to reject the gift of forgiveness that God is giving you and you die in your sins, then there is no hope for you. There is no purgatory. Hell is real and you will spend eternity there. If you’ve read this far, please read just a little farther.
